Below is a video of me starting up a whistle melody with Feist, her band, and a whole bunch of cool audience members at Brooklyn Academy of Music. The New York Times reviewed the show and describes, “a proper two-way ritual: she sang the folk song ‘Sealion,’ accompanied by weirdly powerful two-part whistling from the audience…” No namedrop in the Times, but see it for yourself!
As if that moment wasn’t wild enough for me, it wasn’t the first time I’d turned whistling tricks for Feist. Below is a photo from June 2007, when Leslie F. called me on stage at Town Hall. I warbled, She chirped, We Made Loops.
Our (me & my band, not Feist…) record, ‘Frustration In Time Travel,’ is almost done. Want to hear a song ready for the presses? Stay tuned.
We play Rockwood Music Hall Stage 2 at 10pm on Friday, November 25 (Black Friday) … Free Show! See you there.
p.s.- Both the Town Hall & (more recent) BAM gigs were truly wonderful. Leslie Feist puts on guitar clinics every night and writes some really beautiful songs. I am not worthy.
