Today I attended the final Space Shuttle launch. Atlantis boomed off into orbit to a crowd of about 1 Million.
The brilliance of the flames trailing under the ship is something photographs and television cannot capture. You had to be there to see those rare colors.
Thirty seconds or so after the shuttle lifted off a giant, low rumble rolled over the bay to the causeway where we stood looking on.
Above see my Launch Guest badge.
Below see a plume of steam, hydrochloric acid, aluminum, etc., left behind by a massive spacecraft which earlier today hurtled desperately through the Floridian atmosphere.
OH! By the way: This Wednesday I’m going to make music at Rockwood Music Hall Stage 1…not sure what kind of show this will be.
